The Rules for the Logo Contest were as follows:

Deadline:  Monday, April 23, 2012  5:00pm Open to all

Background:
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Stikine River Birding Festival. The Stikine River Delta is a critical stopover for shorebirds as they migrate to their breeding grounds in the north. Every spring the river turns into a bird-watchers delight, where one has the chance to view thousands of shorebirds, snow geese, and sandhill cranes.

The largest springtime concentration of bald eagles is also found on the Stikine River as they follow the run of a small, oily fish known locally as hooligan. The U.S. Forest Service Alaska Region contains over a million acres of coastal wetlands that play a unique role in the National Forest System. The Stikine River Delta is one of three key coastal wetlands along the Pacific Rim—these gems are made up of large, intact, natural ecosystems that cover a diversity of habitats including estuaries, wetlands, freshwater/riparian habitats, uplands and glaciers.  Alaska’s Key Coastal Wetlands are world-renowned, holding extraordinary international significance for migratory waterfowl and shorebirds. Each year the festival offers opportunities for travel to the Stikine River Delta, hikes with Wrangell’s birding community, art workshops, natural history speakers, native cultural events, children’s activities, and golf tournaments.
