Wrangell, Alaska is an island nestled at the mouth of the mighty Stikine River. Our small town offers visitors a friendly taste of authentic island community in the midst of unique and pristine Alaskan wilderness. Wrangell is known as the "Gateway to the Stikine River" and offers a variety of activities from hiking in untouched corners of the Tongass National Forest, salmon, halibut and freshwater fishing, fantastic bear and bird viewing and immersive cultural sightseeing at Petroglyph Beach, Chief Shakes Island, Kik-setti Totem Park and the Wrangell Museum.  Climb aboard a jet boat tour for a breathtaking adventure up the Stikine River and surround yourself in the unmatched beauty of clear water tributaries, free-floating icebergs at Shakes Glacier, natural hot springs and the Anan Bear and Wildlife Observatory.
