2025-12-09 PSA Conservation of Electricity
With very cold temperatures expected over the next several days, Wrangell Municipal Light & Power (WML&P) is asking residents to help reduce electrical use where possible. When regional SEAPA loads approach their maximum, WMLP may need to operate our diesel units to cover peak demand, which can result in additional diesel-related costs on customer bills.
We’re asking everyone to be aware of usage during the busiest times of day, especially between 7–9 AM and 5–7 PM. Even small reductions during those hours make a significant difference.
Simple steps can help—using your wood heat if available, turning down thermostats slightly, adding an extra layer instead of raising the heat, and shutting off unneeded lighting or appliances. These actions help keep total system demand within SEAPA’s generating limits.
Thank you for helping us manage our community’s power needs and keeping costs under control.
