The City and Borough of Wrangell Alaska Official Website

The City and Borough of Wrangell received a grant from the State of Alaska, Department of Education & Early Development in the amount of $880,000.  In an effort to make up the short fall in funding required for the complete project, the residents of Wrangell also approved general obligation bonds in the amount of $225,000.

This purpose of the project was to make repairs and upgrades to the settling ground, the aging surfacing, and the playground equipment in order to comply with current health and safety standards.  The work included excavation and new fill, demolition of the existing playground equipment and the covered shelter, construction of a new covered structure and playground equipment, placement of embankment and asphalt surfacing, lighting improvements, and new perimeter fencing.

The engineering design was provided by R&M Engineering-Ketchikan, and the construction service was provided by Johnson Construction.  The project completion date was September 15, 2011.
