Recycling

Recycling is currently a volunteer effort that many local residents participate in.

The Wrangell Cooperative Association's IGAP program, has put together a guide for drop off locations for certain types of materials. That guide is attached, so please review it and call the vendor prior to dropping off larger quantities.

The Wrangell Public Works Department allows drop off of the following at the City's solid waste transfer facility:

Paper and Cardboard - Paper and Cardboard may be dropped off at the landfill site during normal hours free of charge.  These materials are burned on site and serve to reduce the volume of garbage Wrangell ships out to be landfilled in Washington state.

Animal Carcasses (from hunting)

Car Batteries - Car and boat batteries may be dropped off at the landfill site for free but they must be intact.  They are shipped out for recycling.

Aluminum cans are collected and drop boxes for cans are found at both grocery stores.
