Position Summary
This is a full-time, permanent hourly position with benefits. Pay is set at Union Wage Grade 15. This full-time position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s Waste Transfer Facility and for providing garbage collection services throughout the community. The Sanitation Worker plays an important role in maintaining community cleanliness and safety and in managing the City’s solid waste operations. This position works independently and as part of a team under the supervision of the Public Works Director and Sanitation Lead. This is the first step in a two-tier sanitation career path. If hired as a Sanitation Worker, promotion to Sanitation Operator is required within one year and is contingent upon obtaining a CDL and demonstrating satisfactory performance.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Must obtain an EPA Refrigeration License within one year of hire.
- Ability to safely operate sanitation and heavy equipment.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and perform physical labor.
Schedule is typically Tuesday through Saturday
