HEALTH ALERT

16th ACTIVE CASE & MITIGATION MEASURES

The Wrangell Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was notified today of one additional new case bringing Wrangell’s active positive cases of COVID-19 to 16. Wrangell has had 12 positive cases in the last seven days.  At this time no additional information about the case is known.

Practice basic mitigation measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

Isolate yourself if you feel any cold-like symptoms and get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
Avoid crowded places and gatherings; keep social circles very small.
Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household.
Always have a mask on when you are around people outside of your household – even if you can maintain a 6-foot distance from others.
Wash your hands often and disinfect commonly touched surfaces and objects.
Limit trips outside the home and consider using curbside pick-up or delivery of food, groceries and other supplies.

Updated Borough Operational Changes:

The Library will transition to curbside service only. Library staff will assist in every way possible. Please call 874-3535 to request assistance. Email mvillarma@wrangell.com or visit the Library’s on-line catalog for requests.

Parks & Recreation and Pool:

Cardio Equipment use will be by appointment only and reduced capacity.
Indoor recreation activities are cancelled.
Pool will remain open but locker rooms will be closed.
Racquetball, Wallyball and Pickleball are closed.
Indoor Facility and Park Shelter Rentals are closed.

Nolan Center:

Movies postponed until next weekend.
No facility rentals or events during this time.

Masks are required in all City facilities unless otherwise directed (e.g. swimming).

Further closures may be necessary if the outbreak increases. Let’s work together to keep Wrangell safe, slow the spread, protect our residents, and keep our local schools, services and economy running.
