COVID UPDATE

The Wrangell Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was notified today of one new positive COVID case. Public Health has advised the EOC this case is due to community spread. This is the only information about the case at this time. The total number of current active cases is now 9, as 8 from the previous high of 16 are considered recovered.

Wrangell currently has a face covering requirement in place for certain indoor public and communal spaces. Please mask up to help stop community spread of COVID.

Continue practicing basic mitigation measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

Isolate yourself if you feel any cold-like symptoms and get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
Avoid crowded places and gatherings; keep social circles very small.
Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household.
Always have a mask on when you are around people outside of your household – even if you can maintain a 6-foot distance from others.
Wash your hands often and disinfect commonly touched surfaces and objects.
Limit trips outside the home and consider using curbside pick-up or delivery of food, groceries and other supplies.

The Library, Nolan Center, and Parks & Recreation Facilities are operating with some limitations according to mitigation plans associated with a HIGH COVID risk level in the community. Please check with the facility staff for additional information.

Let’s work together to keep Wrangell safe, slow the spread, protect our residents, and keep our local schools, services and economy running.
