COVID UPDATE

The Wrangell Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was notified today of one new positive COVID case. This individual is a Wrangell Resident who recently traveled outside of the State and tested upon returning to Wrangell. The individual is asymptomatic and is isolating. No additional information is known at this time. The total number of current active cases is now down to two.

Wrangell currently has a face covering requirement in place through April 30th for certain indoor public and communal spaces. Please mask up to help stop community spread of COVID.

Continue practicing basic mitigation measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Isolate yourself if you feel any cold-like symptoms and get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
  • Avoid crowded places and gatherings; keep social circles very small.
  • Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household.
  • Always have a mask on when you are around people outside of your household – even if you can maintain a 6-foot distance from others.
  • Wash your hands often and disinfect commonly touched surfaces and objects.
  • Limit trips outside the home and consider using curbside pick-up or delivery of food, groceries and other supplies.

The Library, Nolan Center, and Parks & Recreation Facilities are resuming some operations as follows:

Library:  Open regular hours with a 30-minute time limit per patron. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Nolan Center:  Movies with concession service are planned to resume the weekend of April 30th. Events are available by reservation in compliance with the facility mitigation plan.

Parks & Recreation: Locker Rooms are reopening. Group activities will return as the schedule and mitigation plans allow. Reservations for cardio equipment are recommended as space is limited,

Let us work together to keep Wrangell safe, slow the spread, protect our residents, and keep our local schools, services and economy running.
