Alaska Counts Update

Hello, Alaska. 

We just received word from the Census Bureau that they'll be suspending field operations until April 1 due to COVID-19. After that, they'll reassess their plan for field enumeration — full press release below. 

While this is obviously an unexpected wrench in a plan that's been 10 years in the making, we're very glad the Census is being proactive about preventing the spread of disease. Our remote communities don't have the resources to be on the front lines of response, and keeping people safe needs to be the top priority. 

The silver lining is that it has never been easier to fill out the Census without leaving your house. Stay home and respond to the Census online at my2020census.gov, or over the phone at 1-844-330-2020.

Things are changing fast, but responding to the Census remains an easy and safe way to make sure your community has critical resources over the long run.

Alaskans are resourceful, resilient, and most importantly, we really care about each other. Stay safe and be good to each other!
