Drinking Water Color Information
Water Update – An increase in the color will be evident in the water supply for the next few days. Wrangell is not experiencing a water shortage. One component of Wrangell’s water treatment is ozonation, which helps remove organics from the water supply. Last week, a power fluctuation disabled a component of the ozone generation system, cutting the ozonation capacity in half. Replacement parts were ordered from the east coast, but a shipping delay occurred. At this time it is anticipated the parts will arrive in Wrangell on Wednesday morning for immediate installation. In the meantime, please continue to use water as normal. In addition to ozone, the Wrangell water supply is disinfected with chlorine and this component of the system is in full working order. The water may not be as aesthetically pleasing, but it is safe to drink and for all other uses.
