The Wrangell Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was notified today, August 23, 2021, of four (4) new positive COVID cases. All individuals are Wrangell residents, three (3) are symptomatic and one (1) is asymptomatic and all are isolating. Three individuals are close contacts to previous positive cases. The origin of exposure for the fourth individual is unknown. Public Health was also able to release five previous positive cases from monitoring. That brings the total number of active cases to 20.

The current number of active cases in Wrangell is twenty (20).

Continue practicing basic mitigation measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

Isolate yourself if you feel any cold-like symptoms and get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
If you are unvaccinated:

Avoid crowded places and gatherings; keep social circles small.
Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household.
Have a mask on when you are around people outside of your household – even if you can maintain a 6-foot distance from others.
Take advantage of free, asymptomatic testing and test regularly.

Wash your hands often and disinfect commonly touched surfaces and objects.
If you are vaccinated:

Consider wearing a mask in indoors when outside your home.
Take advantage of free, asymptomatic testing and test regularly.
