Notice of Phone Scam Demanding Payment of Medical Bills

NOTICE OF PHONE SCAM DEMANDING PAYMENT OF MEDICAL BILLS

Wrangell Medical Center has been made aware that, according to Google Alerts, there is a phone scam going around where a caller with a strong foreign accent claims to be a representative of a local medical center (WMC in this case) and is asking for money on a medical bill, though they cannot give details about the patient’s stay.  Please be assured that Wrangell Medical Center does not call and demand payment over the phone.  You may be given a courtesy call by our billing agency – TruBridge – to let you know the status of your account and they may offer to take payment or set up a payment plan but will not demand payment at that time.  Always, if you are concerned, PLEASE call our local office staff at 874-7000 and they can help sort out anything that sounds fishy.
