Wrangell Medical Center Announces Three CEO Candidate Finalists

Wrangell, Alaska, Thursday, August 6, 2015 – Wrangell Medical Center Board, at a special meeting this morning, confirmed three final candidates for the position of Chief Executive Officer at WMC. The candidates are Mr. Jeffrey Lyle of Belton, Texas; Mr. Robert Rang of Kodiak, Alaska and Mr. Aaron McPherson of Wrangell.

“We are really happy to have these three wonderful candidates to work with,” remarked WMC Board president, Terri Henson.  A committee of the board was able to narrow an initial field of over 35 candidates down to 10, and then again down to five and finally to three.  “These three gentlemen each have a diverse range of experiences and strengths and we’re confident in their abilities, the important thing now is to find the correct fit for our community and medical center,” added Henson.

Most recently, Mr. Lyle had served as interim Director and CEO at various facilities as he followed his active duty military spouse from post to post.  Now that his wife has retired, he is looking for a more permanent location and has had some experience with Alaska having visited a number of times.

Mr. Rang has served as the Long Term Care Administrator in Kodiak since 2012 and worked for 4 years at the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation before that.

Mr. McPherson is the current Long Term Care Director of Operations and Director of the Rehabilitation Department at WMC.  He and his wife, Denise, have been in Wrangell since March of 2014.

The two candidates from out of town will be in Wrangell from August 18 – 21st for site visits and all three candidates will be meeting with WMC staff, AICS personnel and various others throughout the community during this time.

An open reception with a brief introduction of each candidate will be held at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, August 19 in the Nolan Center lobby.  The public is encouraged to attend this reception and get to know the candidates.  Forms will be available for community members to give feedback to the WMC Board who will go over the feedback the following morning prior to making their final selection.
