Harbor Maintenance-Security
Summary: Under the general direction and supervision of the Harbormaster, the Maintenance/Security position preforms a variety light maintenance and daily inventory of all vessels utilizing harbor facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Light maintenance
- Collects daily inventory of all vessels utilizing harbor facilities and items stored on Port properties, and
- Assigns moorage to vessels.
- Works with the public, City departments, state, and federal agencies
- Performs duties as part of the Department of Homeland Security Port Security Plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
Be able to operate, or learn to operate, ports and harbor equipment including but not limited to, boats, forklifts, loaders, four wheelers, snow blowers, pressure washers, drills, saws, welders and other mechanical equipment. Ability to communicate courteously and professionally to customers, coworkers, and members of the general public.
A High School Diploma or GED and office-related experience is required. A background knowledge of waterfront activities and vessels is desirable. Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license and valid TWIC card or the ability to obtain both within 6 months.
