JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
HARBOR MAINTENANCE/SECURITY
The Wrangell Harbor Department will accept applications for the position of Harbor Maintenance/Security through July 19, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. This is a permanent position with all City & Borough benefits and is part of the collective bargaining agreement.
This position performs light maintenance outlined by the Harbormaster, collects daily inventory of all vessels utilizing harbor facilities and items stored on Port properties, and assigns moorage to vessels and performs basic office duties. Works with the public as well as other City departments and state and federal agencies and performs duties as part of the Department of Homeland Security Port Security Plan.
Applicants must be able to operate, or learn to operate, ports and harbor equipment including but not limited to, boats, forklifts, loaders, four wheelers, snow blowers, pressure washers, drills, saws, welders and other mechanical equipment. Ability to communicate courteously and professionally to customers, coworkers, and members of the general public.
A High School Diploma or GED and office-related experience is required. A background knowledge of waterfront activities and vessels is desirable. Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license and valid TWIC card or the ability to obtain both within 6 months.
