4th of July Battle of the Wrangell All-Stars

Mt. Dewey Run July 1st

Location: Mt. Dewey Trailhead

Two (2) members of each team will be stationed at the top platform of Mt. Dewey. Three (3) members will be at the bottom where the race will start. First runner will ascend the mountain in any fashion; following the path or heading straight up the slide. Upon reaching the platform, the second runner of that team will descend the mountain however they see fit. Same for the 3rd and 4th members of that team; the final runner will run up and back down Mt. Dewey to finish the race.

Canoe Tug-O-War July 1st

Location: City Dock

Two (2) teams will compete at a time; there will be five (5) members of each team in their canoe. Canoes will be tied together at the stern; teams will paddle away from each other in an effort to drag the opposing canoe across a given mark for the win.

Running Relay Race July 2nd

Location: Shoemaker Park

Teams will begin the race at Shoemaker Park and run along the pre-set path with other members of their team starting at set intervals. First team to cross the finish line with all five (5) members having participated in their leg of the race will be declared the winner.

Softball Dunk Tank July 2nd

Location: Shoemaker Park

Three (3) members of each team will have the opportunity to choose ANY member of ANY opposing team to sit in the tank. Each participating member will throw three (3) softballs and try to dunk the person sitting in the tank. The team with the most dunks will be declared the winner.

Swimming Relay Race July 3rd

Location: Swimming Pool

Five (5) members of each team will participate in the swimming event. The first four (4) members will swim one half (1/2) lap; the anchorman will swim a complete lap (down and back). Fastest time will be declared the winner.

Kayak Relay Race July 3rd

Location: Swimming Pool

Five (5) members of each team will participate in the kayak event. The first participant will begin in the kayak in the water; they will paddle down the length of the pool, around a buoy and back to the beginning. At this point they will swap out of the kayak with the next participant; the previous participant may stay in the water and help push the next member of their team. First team to get all five (5) laps finished will be declared the winner.

Drift Trike Relay Race July 4th

Location: Nolan Center

Five (5) members of each team will participate in the drift trike event. Members will all be lined up at the starting point. The first participant will be in the seat of their team’s trike and ready to go; upon completion of the lap, members will swap out the trike and continue on the same route. The first team to have all five (5) members finish their lap will be declared the winner.

Tug-O-War July 4th

Location: Front Street

The top two (2) teams will have an eight (8) person pull to see which team will be crowned the grand champion of the 1st Annual Fourth of July Battle of the Wrangell All-Stars!!!
