Position Summary

This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits. Pay is set at Union Grade 19, DOE. The Fleet Mechanic performs journey-level maintenance, repair, overhaul, and fabrication services on a wide variety of Borough vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and drivetrain systems; performing preventative maintenance; responding to equipment breakdowns; and ensuring the Borough's fleet remains safe, reliable, and operational. Work is performed independently and in coordination with others under the general supervision of the Lead Fleet Mechanic.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance, including heavy gasoline and diesel-powered equipment; or an associate degree in automotive technology or a related field and two (2) years of recognized industry experience.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Knowledge of heavy and light-duty vehicle maintenance, diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, welding, and fabrication.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and safely perform physically demanding work, including frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds.
