Donations and Loans

The Wrangell Museum is always looking for donations and loans that will enhance our collection and help bring the story of Wrangell's history to life. The mission of the Wrangell Museum is to collect, interpret and preserve Wrangell’s rich natural and cultural history through exhibits and other educational opportunities. The general scope-of-collections for The Wrangell Museum encompasses the history of Wrangell Island and the immediate surrounding areas. Each collecting division may further restrict and refine the scope in accordance with the Museum’s mission and purpose.

While the museum's staff encourages the donation of items that will enhance our collection, items brought in for donation must meet the criteria set forth in the Mission Statement. Donations may only be made to the director and items left at the museum will be returned if the proper donation agreement forms have not been signed by both the donor and the Director. Items donated will belong to the Wrangell Museum and will not be returned to the original owner or their beneficiaries at a later date.

Short term loans will be accepted periodically and will have an agreed upon end date. If those items are not claimed after the loan date, those items will be subject to abandoned property laws.
