Solid Infrastructure

Wrangell has invested heavily in the last five years to improve utilities and infrastructure for residents and business growth. Wrangell has state of the art facilities for drinking water and waste water treatment. Solid waste handling has been enhanced with a material recovery handling facility and the borough is actively pursuing recycling equipment and program. Over 5 miles of utility expansions have occurred in the last 4 years to serve residential and business areas. Wrangell's electrical needs are served by the Tyee-Swan Lake Hydro Electric Project, which is currently operating with surplus energy.

Harbor improvements, including deepwater dock improvements, waterfront industrial land subdivisions and new harbor construction are creating additional opportunity for marine repair and other marine related support services. Industrial Park expansions provide land area for manufacturing or processing activities.

The Community's telecommunication infrastructure is continuing to be enhanced with broadband DSL service, cable modem and fiber optics.
