Deep Water Port Redevelopment
Freight Reliability, Maritime Industry Expansion & Fabrication
Project Estimate: $38.3 Million
The Deep-Water Port Redevelopment is a cornerstone investment for expanding Wrangell’s maritime fabrication and industrial capacity while significantly improving freight reliability and industrial logistics. The project prepares the former mill site for long-term maritime and industrial use by delivering foundational public infrastructure required for fabrication, vessel repair, and marine-dependent industry.
Key elements include:
- Site subdivision and planning to support maritime fabrication, vessel construction and repair, and shipyard-scale operations
- Large, contiguous industrial parcels with adequate laydown space for freight storage, fabrication, assembly, and heavy equipment staging
- Extension and distribution of water, sewer, and high-capacity electrical utilities, including backup generation to support continuous industrial operations
- Waterfront and navigational improvements to support deep-draft vessels, barges, and industrial moorage
