Freedom Rock® Veterans Memorial

The City & Borough of Wrangell is proud to be home to Alaska's first official Freedom Rock® Veterans Memorial.

The memorial features a hand-painted granite boulder by artist Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II, with artwork inspired by Wrangell’s veterans, history, culture, and community.

The artwork and initial site preparation are complete. Work is now focused on the permanent memorial setting at City Park, including a pavilion, seating, interpretive signage, flagpole, landscaping, security features, and other site furnishings.

When complete, the site will provide a place for remembrance, reflection, education, community gatherings, and visitors interested in learning more about Wrangell's history.
