Central Tongass Landscape Level Analysis

USFS Project site

The USFS is undertaking a new planning process to guide activities on the Wrangell and Petersburg Ranger Districts over the next 15 years.  This process will NEPA approve a variety of activities, so that as projects are funded, multiple actions can occur simultaneously, streamlining and creating efficiencies for later projects.

The USFS held a public meeting on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Nolan Center to answer questions and identify the categories being considered in the current proposed action, and the activities that would be NEPA approved under specific conditions.   Comments to the Scoping document were due September 24, 2019.

As of September of 2020, the project has been paused in order to reevaluate vegetation  management site specifically.  A draft EIS is now planned for spring of 2022.
